Government Agencies

Sundance Institute honors the following legacy donors for many years of very generous support. These government funders have nurtured the growth of the Institute and its role in the community. We express our gratitude to each of them.

  • The National Endowment for the Arts has supported Sundance Institute since its founding in 1981. Currently, NEA grants aid the Feature Film Program, Theatre Program, and Creative Distribution.

  • State of Utah

One of the silver screen’s most loved and diverse backdrops, Utah boasts immense natural beauty, a vibrant economy and a rich cultural fabric. With the support of legislative appropriations, Sundance Institute and the State of Utah have a shared endeavor to stimulate artistic discovery, while promoting economic growth in Utah. This collaboration drives the creative and professional development of storytellers, provides public programming to introduce audiences to new work, and makes critical investments in the institute's operations and infrastructure.

With targeted investments from the Utah Office of Tourism, Film and Global Branding and the Utah Film Commission, the State of Utah has supported Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival for more than 20 years, and is proud to be recognized as the Festival Host State.

Support received from the following government donors throughout the past year has helped sustain Sundance Institute’s ability to serve independent film and theatre artists in numerous ways.
